F-E-A-R: Forget Everything And Run OR Face Everything And Rise?

Fear destroys relationships. Fear crushes health. Fear paralyzes us and keeps us from showing our true potential.

So if it’s so bad for us, why do we have so much of it?

Fear dominates because we are afraid to step out and conquer it. We’re afraid to make the phone call that can restore a broken relationship; we’re afraid to pick up the laptop and start writing the book that can change our future; we’re afraid to say we’re sorry and begin again.

The fact is that fear will totally stop  you from doing anything that is worthwhile in your life and only YOU can break its hold. Take the following steps:

  1. Change your mentality:

For a lot of people the letters F-E-A-R means forget everything and run. Redefine your definition to be face everything and rise! When you change your perception, you change what you see. Look at your problems through the eyes of a conqueror instead of a victim and you will see victory instead of oppression.

  2. Choose love:

    The Bible says:

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.-1 John 4:8a

I doubt that there’s anyone in the history of the world who actually really enjoyed being afraid. Love produces confidence and when we become confident that we love God and that He loves us, we know that He’ll never let us down and our problems are as good as gone. Yes, we’ll still have symptoms and times that we fall but we know that we have victory all the same. Love brings a confidence that let’s us Face Everything And Rise.

3. Move out!

Take that first step that you’ve been afraid to take. Write that letter, tell her you love her, say the “I’m sorry.” Before you know it, one step will become two, then another and another. You’ll be shocked to see yourself at the peak of your success all because you chose to throw off the shackles of fear and taste the thrill of victory.

So what does F-E-A-R mean for you? Forget Everything And Run ? or

Face Everything And Rise?

The choice is yours. Comment below & if you liked this post, please share it!

  1. YES! Fear can be so paralyzing, but if we don’t stand up to it (at least sometimes), we can miss out on so much of life. Changing your mentality is good advice (though challenging), and I think it’s a good reminder to think about our actions and not let fear control us. Nice post!

  2. Thanks for sharing Sadhna. I agree that it can serve a purpose but we should never let it dominate our lives. That’s where I think the problem lies. Fear of being crushed by a car can make me cautiously look both ways. That is good. But if fear of being crushed by a car prevents me from crossing the street, it becomes an evil force. Thanks again for the perspective. 🙂
